Primary Pathway 1

Primary Pathway 1 is carefully designed to introduce the children to colour, pattern, texture, shape and form and to develop basic fine motor skills.  Children explore and learn a number of art processes, skills and techniques through a range of carefully constructed units of work.  Children will experience a range of art disciplines and will explore colour mixing, mark-making and printmaking as well as experimenting with paper structures and modelling with clay.

Each unit of work will focus on either an artist, designer, craft maker or world culture.  At least one unit will focus on a UK artist and / or a local artist. Children will also be introduced to well-known Art Movements for example, Expressionism and a ‘great artist’ for example, Henri Matisse.  Children will lay solid foundations for further knowledge and skills development as they move through the pathways.
