Subject Statement
The Sensory Pathway is for our pupils of all age ranges with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. The children who access the sensory pathways may have a combination of Physical, Sensory, hearing and sight problems, Communication and Complex medical needs.
The Curriculum across the Sensory Pathways is centred on 5 key areas Physical, Communication and Interaction, Social, Cognition and Understanding the World.
The pupils will learn within safe, caring and enabling environments, with stimulating, meaningful and relevant learning opportunities. Physical management and sensory programmes are a fundamental part of this learning pathway, along with a range of alternative therapies including Rebound Therapy, Hydro therapy, Tac-Pac, Touch Communication and Sherbourne.
The pupils are working below the expected standards and progress for the children, builds on lateral progression across the 5 key areas. The main focus for progress is aimed around the EHC milestones and IEP targets.
