Curriculum Statement:

PSHE covers personal, social, health and economic education. This is the school curriculum subject that supports pupils to be healthy, safe and prepared for modern life. At Watermill School we aim to enhance children’s self-awareness and self-esteem to allow them to become well rounded, collaborative and responsible citizens.

The Watermill School PSHE curriculum was created using the Special Educational Needs framework from the PSHE association. The framework is divided into six key areas which include: Self-awareness,  Self-care, Support and Safety,  Managing Feelings, Changing and Growing, Healthy Lifestyles and The World I Live In.

Our new curriculum provides children the opportunity to learn skills through different pathways with each pathway covering the 6 key areas of PSHE. Using the same topics across the pathways has allowed us to develop a bespoke, spiral style curriculum which lets pupils have many opportunities for repetition and over learning while allowing progression through increasing levels of complexity.
