Transition at Keystage 4

School Partnerships.

We presently have successful partnerships with:-

Reaseheath college, Newcastle college and Stoke college.

Reaseheath offer post 16 courses ncluding animal care and horticulture.

Newcastle College and Stoke College offer a range of post 16 courses in a number of subjects both core and foundation as well as life skills and independence.

If a college environment is not suitable, pupils have options to join with other training providers who offer apprenticeship at post 16.

Work experience.

Students are encouraged to undertake a work experience.  Watermill has access to a various selection of suitable placements, these are fully insured and risk assessed.

Industry week.

During the last month at Y10 we participate in a full week of Industry visits.  The students choose the range of places to explore.  This accounts towards an accreditation.

Weekly Careers Service

Watermill has an advisor in school each week to work with pupils 1:1 or in small groups to discuss post 16 options and careers.

The advisor works closely with our transition coordinator and together they will offer advice and guidance.  A support plan is put into place for when your child moves on at post 16.
