Music

Curriculum Statement:

At Watermill, Music is an integral part of school life for many pupils, not only through specific lessons but also as part of their daily routine, and for some, as part of their method of communication. The aim is for all pupils to have an experience of music in a variety of different ways, with opportunities to perform, compose and appraise in their own way. Research has shown that music can help to improve cognitive ability in young people and can improve their emotional strength along with their ability to handle anxiety.

We have chosen to use the ‘Charanga’ scheme of work to deliver Music at Watermill, which is an excellent on-line tool that gives teachers the resources to deliver a wide range of musical experiences to our pupils.  The scheme offers activities to a wide range of abilities and they are easily adapted to suit the needs of our pupils.
