Secondary Pathway 1

Secondary Pathway 1 is designed to build on skills learned across the Primary Pathways.  The units are constructed to encourage children to apply their skills in a range of contexts and have more choice over the tools, materials and techniques they use.  Children will continue to expand their technical vocabulary and knowledge of artists and will study them to a greater depth. Artists studied across this pathway include M.C Escher, Claes Oldenburg, local artist Enos Lovatt and UK contemporary designer/ illustrator Jon Burgerman.  Children will explore a greater range of tools and media including wire, mould making and plaster casting.   In Secondary Pathway 1 children will continue to explore a range of art disciplines comprising of drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, sculpture and collage, they will also work towards and end of year exhibition. Children will move into the next pathway with a solid foundation to move into either Secondary Pathway 2 where they will consolidate their skills or work towards higher level accredited units through Secondary Pathway 3.
